City of Cambridge

1 Days from just £35.00

Explore the magic of Cambridge; home to one of the most prestigious universities in the world, beautiful architecture from the medieval ages onwards, delightful open spaces and culture and history round every corner! There's something for everyone!

The world-famous university colleges dominate the centre of the city with none more stunning than King's College and its Chapel (celebrated for its choral services and Christmas Eve carols) where Choral Evensong is sung most days in term time (as at most of other college chapels) and is free and open to all. As you stroll around the city, keep an eye out for some of the locations seen in iconic films such as Chariots of Fire, The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything or the site of some of science's most important discoveries.

Be sure to visit the free-to-enter Fitzwilliam Museum, which houses world-class collections of art and antiquities spanning centuries and civilisations, and Kettle's Yard, one of the finest galleries in the country and a major centre of 20th century and contemporary art. The city also has a thriving theatre and music scene, with plenty of small venues showing touring West End productions to student theatre shows.

If it's shopping you're after, Cambridge has it all from a daily market and some of the finest independent boutiques to all the high street brands you'd expect in a thriving city. There's something for every budget, taste and need from luxury stores to more affordable fare. A wander down the historic cobbled streets will take in Cambridge's three shopping centres - The Grafton, Lion Yard and Grand Arcade - and offers the perfect mix of leisure and retail in the stunning setting of this historic city.

Cambridge is also full of beautiful open green spaces with several large parks and greens dotted throughout the heart of the city. The River Cam loops around the west and north of the city centre and in the spring and summer months is the perfect spot for a leisurely punt, whether you brave it yourself or take one of the tours that give you beautiful views of the city from the water.
