Set in 114 acres of vibrant, colourful Cambridgeshire, Anglesey Abbey is a Jacobean (early 17th Century) house full of history. The site started life in the 12th Century as a monastic priory before being closed and ruined during the Reformation. A Jacobean house was built on the site during the reign of James I and fell into disrepair before being transformed during the 1920s and 30s by the future Lord Fairhaven.
An American-born philanthropist and art collector, Lord Fairhaven's renovations give a unique glimpse into the opulence of upper crust life during the interwar period, with fine furnishings, books, paintings and rare clocks surrounded by a series of spectacular gardens.
Famed for its gardens, Anglesey Abbey boasts several - a winter garden, rose garden, dahlia garden, herbaceous borders and formal gardens as well as a watermill, where Greenliners will be able to explore traditional machinery and history on the ground floor.
