First held in 1262, Oswestry Market has been a major part of the history and trade of Oswestry over the past 750 years. Every Wednesday and Saturday, the outdoor markets host a wide range of traders in a bustling, colourful marketplace. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the Powis Hall Indoor Market Hall (first built in 1782 and reconstructed in 1963) boasts specialist retailers, collectables and antiques across a great range of stalls and an excellent cafe for when you need to refresh yourself after all that shopping.
Following our time in Oswestry, we will head down the road to the excellent British Ironwork Sculpture Park. With over 90 acres of sculptures and the UK's largest collection of decorative metal work - there is lots to see and do! Whether its take a leisurely stroll among the unique artwork and sculpture, taking a break in the cafe or visiting the Artisan Village of independent crafters. your afternoon is sorted.
British Ironworks specialise in creating incredible art from scrap and waste metals. Be sure to check out the legendary Spoon Gorilla, made from 40,000 spoons, the 'Head on With the Future' made from an entire recycled tractor and anti-violence sculptures made from old discarded weapons! Each sculpture has a purpose and message and hopes to present visitors 'Art with Conscience'.
