Ross on Wye & Wye Valley Cruise
1 Days from just
£40.00
Voted Britain's best loved market town, Ross on Wye has been the home of 'picturesque tourism' since the late 18th Century. Greenliners can enjoy that same scenic beauty whilst browsing independent shops, strolling alongside the town's mock Gothic walls and Gazebo Tower folly or admiring the pastel-hued houses that spill down the hillside towards the River Wye. The centre of a region historically dubbed Archenfield or 'Land of Hedgehogs', keep an eye out for examples of the woodland creature throughout the town.
Mid-afternoon we take the short trip down river to Symonds Yat, where we will be boarding a 45-min cruise through the Wye Valley's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As we cruise through the stunning countryside, we'll be taking part in an experience that has been going on for 255 years, since William Gilpin first organised boat trips along the Wye and kicked started what became the 'Picturesque Movement'.
