Majestic Autumnal Colours
1 Days from just

Home to 2500 different types of tree and shrub from across the globe and 5 national tree collections, Westonbirt Arboretum is the perfect place to escape, relax or have an adventure in the most beautiful surroundings!
Westonbirt contains two main areas - the formal arboretum contains many fine specimens including most of the magnolias and rhododendrons. Spring brings beautiful acers with mellow tints alongside the emerald greens of older, more mature trees. However, in Autumn, Westonbirt transforms into a magical kaleidoscope of autumnal reds, oranges and yellows that will take your breath away.
The less formal Silk Wood is also can't miss. Spring brings masses of bluebells like a carpet beneath the trees, whilst beautiful wildflowers cover the slopes as the trees reach full leaf and provide a cooling canopy in early Summer. October and November bring yet more maginificent displays of autumnal colouring which must be witnessed to be believed.
As we make our way home, we'll be stopping for a short visit to the market town of Stroud. "The Covent Garden of the Cotswolds", Stroud is noted for a vibrant mix of culture, art, independent shops and cafes and historical sights. Long recognisded as a haven for antiquing, the Vintage Trail of vintage emporiums is definitely worth exploring.
